Opening Night Debut – er, Flubs

Well, all that excitement and optimism had to take a beating at some point.  Last night I woke up about 90 minutes after I had gone to sleep and turned on my phone to check my email.  I have no idea why I did that, but I’m glad I did, because there was an email from one of my betas letting me know that his advance copy had a number of errors in it.

Errors?  Sh*t!

The biggest one was that Chapter 11 was now ensconced between Chapters 7 and 8 (how that happened will be an eternal mystery.  I would have had to pick up the entire chapter file and dump it between the other two chapters). He also noted that I spelled discreetly (quietly) as discretely (singled out) twice.  And there were several “is is” and “was was”.

So as the clock chimed 1 am (and I had to be up at 5 for work), I was fixing the original manuscript in Scrivener, re-compiling, and re-uploading to Amazon.  As I write this, about 20 hours later, Amazon still hasn’t uploaded the corrected version.

I’m sure I will laugh about it someday.  But not today.  Today I will just shake my head in frustration.

Does it get easier?  Wait – don’t answer that!
